WOV for iOS is an AUv3 effect designed to create a diverse array of textures from your sounds, ranging from traditional tremolo waves to glitchy stutters and everything in between.

WOV debuts on iOS featuring a collection of inspiring presets by Richard Devine and Stèv.

Please note: WOV is an Audio Unit extension (AUv3) and is compatible only with AUv3 host apps such as Garageband, AUM, Cubasis, Modstep, Beatmaker 3, etc.

How It Works / Description

The Rate Section

This section dictates the rate or speed at which WOV operates. The rate can be set in Hz or fractions of a beat synchronized with a host app. To switch between Hz and sync modes, utilize the switches located at the bottom center of WOV. In addition to setting a static rate, WOV offers more functionality. Adjacent to the Rate control, the bipolar Response knob adjusts how WOV’s rate reacts to the volume of the input signal. The bipolar Variation control introduces varying levels of randomness to the rate, ranging from half the rate to double the rate.

The Depth Section

Depth controls the modulation over the dry signal – subtle on the left and akin to a repeating gate on the right. The Silence feature adds randomness to the plugin, increasing the chances of amplitude reaching zero for some cycles.

The Waveform Section

While most tremolo effects have fixed waveforms, WOV, as a K-Devices product, allows for extensive customization. The Wave knob morphs between a quasi-sine shape and a slightly rounded-off square shape. Peak functions as an attack control for the waveform – sharp attack when turned left and more gradual peak when turned right. The Warp knob alters the waveform's length by squeezing or expanding it. When Wave is set to a full square, Warp acts as a duty cycle/pulsewidth control.

The Accents Multislider

An eight-step sequencer employs a multislider to adjust the relative accent value for each beat of the rate. The slider can range from two to eight steps in length, with an option to offset accents going one step ahead on the right channel (requires Stereo to be activated).

Get Wide

WOV can maintain the stereo placement of the input signal or introduce stereo offset to the output signal. Enabling the Stereo switch directly impacts Response, Silence, and Sequencer for a broader sound experience.

Go By Feel

To encourage musical and creative exploration with WOV, controls lack specific numerical readouts and rely on symbols. Ears are encouraged to guide knob adjustments where possible. For precise readings, parameter details can be accessed/edited by clicking on any parameter within WOV and viewing in the upper-right corner.

Icons

By default, all labels are displayed graphically. For text labels, toggle the symbols/text label switch located in the lower-right corner.
